My childhood fascination of decoding my dreams and my ability to go lucid, lead me to research Oneirogens: herbs/plants or states of conscious, that produce or enhance, a dream-like state of consciousness.The biggest influences on my artistic growth have been meditation, researching and experiences in altered states of consciousness, and herbalism/holistic-based medicine. My work is at times a Divinatory practice: a mixture of dream, mythology, abstraction thoughts and shamanism/spiritual study. I combine modes of abstraction, neo expressionism and surrealist linguistics with set parameters of freedom and restraints. With half a psychic/automatist gesture mixed with a directorial sense of editing the scene and adding detail; I find this "happy place" in between both dynamics, creating a fragmented allegory that morphs into locals of the inner mind, visual traces of the energy of thought, and alien dimensions just beyond waking reach. The way we perceive reality and our experiences in it, have this magical quality I seek out, and aim to show glimpses of through emotional landscapes and figurations of that same perpetual energy. I want you to have that same energy, as the viewer time traveling through memory, hallucination, and personal experience; at times joyous and horrific.
